A special young man adopted a Chocolate Lab-American Bulldog puppy from K9 Rescue League in January
2007. His name was Bobby Odom.
There are people who adopt dogs but not all of them stand out as true animal lovers. Bobby came to
meet the litter of Chocolate Lab-American Bulldog puppies. He spent a few hours holding and playing
with each puppy. Bobby loved them all. He wanted them all but he knew he could only have one. He even
called his mom for advice in making the decision. He chose Buttermilk and renamed her Harley. This would
be his “until death do us part” companion. He planned a long life ahead for both. He thanked us so much
for saving these pups.
Everyday started with Harley and Bobby getting ready for work then off they went together. The months
they had were spent together, visiting family and friends, walking in the park or just hanging around the
house watching TV. They also spent a lot of their free time visiting Bobby's good friends, the McMillan
family. The McMillan's have two children who loved Harley and Harley loved playing with them as well.
Sadly and unexpectedly, Bobby was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident July 31, 2007. This was one
of the few times Bobby left Harley behind. Bobby's parents wanted to keep Harley but they realized Harley
really loved the companionship of the Mc Millian’s and their children so out of pure love, they let the
McMillan’s adopt Harley.
Due to Bobby's love for Harley and wanting to help rescue dogs, he foresaw himself starting "Harley's
House of Hounds" Rescue. There were other plans for Bobby. We believe the plans were... Harley's House of
Hounds in Heaven.
We miss him greatly. We miss his dream for all the animals he would have saved.
As a tribute to Bobby who touched so many lives, we dedicate this page to him.
